"Since the emergence of a new type of corona virus variant in Bangka Regency for approximately two years until now a total of 225 toddlers or children aged one to four years have been exposed to COVID-19," said Spokesperson for the COVID-19 Task Force for Bangka Regency, Boy Yandra in Sungailiat, as reported by Antara. , Thursday, July 22.
Hundreds of toddlers who have tested positive for COVID-19, said Boy Yandra, are generally infected from their parents who first tested positive for COVID-19 or from those closest to them.
"From the number of cases in the toddler age group, there is one toddler under the age of three who died from Sungailiat District," he said.
According to him, the total number of cases of the group is spread across a number of sub-districts where some of them have been declared cured and vice versa.
In addition to cases of the spread of COVID-19 in toddlers, said Boy Yandra, a total of 24 infants or children under one year of age were confirmed positive for COVID-19.
"In the last few weeks, the spread of COVID-19 cases is still happening, although the number of daily cases has decreased," he said.
