Revealed! Sri Mulyani Calls PPKM Operations In The Regions By The TNI And Police Absorb The State Budget Of IDR 790 Billion

JAKARTA - The government through the Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani said that the implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) in a number of regions absorbed the 2021 State Budget (APBN) of up to hundreds of billions.

The funds are used as incentives and operations for members of the TNI and Polri assigned to support the PPKM program.

"To run PPKM in areas where the TNI and Polri are asked to help local governments at the RT, RW, village, kelurahan, and sub-district levels, we provide support to the TNI and Polri members in the amount of Rp. 790 billion as an operational form of various PPKM activities," said the Minister of Finance. in a press conference on APBN Kita which was broadcast virtually, Wednesday, July 21.

According to the Minister of Finance, this step was taken as an effort to suppress the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, which is still in a fairly high trend.

"We hope that with this support the COVID-19 condition can be controlled again," he said.

To note, the budget itself is included in the 2021 National Economic Recovery (PEN) scheme for the health sub-sector, amounting to Rp214.95 trillion.

As of July 16, 2021, the health sub-sector in the 2021 PEN has realized Rp54.10 trillion or 25.2 percent of the set ceiling.

Meanwhile, the total amount of PEN 2021 funds reached Rp744.75 trillion. This figure is up from the government's previous estimate at the beginning of the year with Rp699.43 trillion.
