Police Action Carrying COVID-19 Suspected Patients Cross The Inhil River Riau
PEKANBARU - A member of the Indragiri Hilir Resort Police, Bripka Dedek Kurniawan, carried HM (61) a suspected COVID-19 patient to cross the river in Indragiri Hilir, Riau. HM was evacuated because the patient had shortness of breath.
"Yes, they are members of the Inhil Resort Police, initially our members received information that residents asked to be evacuated due to suspicions of COVID-19," said Indragiri Hilir Police Chief, AKBP Dian Setyawan, quoted by Antara, Monday, July 19.
He said that the humanitarian action carried out by its members is now increasingly viral because it has been included in the 19-second TikTok video and it can be seen that patient HM (61) was evacuated from home to Tembilahan Hospital. Officers wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) carry patients on and off the boat.
According to Dian, Bripka Dedek took HM patients from home to the hospital along with health workers by boat. Because, from HM's house to Tembilahan Hospital, you have to cross the river by boat.
"This condition is our struggle and our risk in the field in providing services. That includes renting a pompong, crossing the river for evacuation. The location of the video is in Tembilahan Kota, but on the other side, we have to cross the Indragiri River," said Dian.
He explained that during the evacuation there were two people who were suspected and were in close contact. However, the condition of HM is clinically symptomatic and is no longer able to walk.
"There were two people we evacuated at that time. But that's what the viral video shows with clinical symptoms, the evacuation was carried out on Friday (16/7) yesterday," said Dian.
Dian said it was the members who got the news from the village head for the first time and went directly to the location. At that time, no one dared to evacuate because HM was in close contact with patients who were confirmed positive for COVID-19.
"According to the leadership's direction and it is our duty. If we will trace it by the health worker to be accompanied. But because there are many fears, then Mr. Dedek handles it with complete attributes or PPE," he explained.
But now Dian ensures that HM patients and their members are now in good health. He also ensures that the maximum treatment has been carried out because all members in the field have been vaccinated.
"Now, thank God for the patients and Pak Bhabin, we are all healthy. We have all been vaccinated, so we are all equipped with PPE when we are on duty, we didn't know it was suddenly crowded on TikTok. The point is that we are all according to the leadership's direction, ready to provide services to the community," he said. .
