Batam Almost Runs Out Of Stock Of COVID-19 Vaccine
BATAM - Deputy Mayor of Batam Amsakar Achmad said the city government's stock of COVID-19 vaccine was almost exhausted. There are only a few vials left at the puskesmas.
"You can say zero. Except for only a few vials at the puskesmas," he said, quoted by Antara, Monday, July 19.
According to him, the dwindling vaccine stock has prevented the city government from optimizing services to accelerate the increase in COVID-19 vaccination coverage.
Amsakar hopes that the central government will immediately send vaccine supplies to Batam City through the Riau Islands Provincial Government so that vaccination services can be resumed.
"This vaccination is urgently needed by the community now," he said, adding that during the time of the implementation of restrictions on emergency community activities, vaccination was used as a condition of travel.
The Deputy Mayor said the Batam City Government continued to coordinate with the Head of the Riau Islands Health Office, Mohamad Bisri, regarding the distribution of vaccine supplies.
He asked residents to understand the limitations of the city government in providing vaccination services.
"Hopefully, our people will understand that this is actually a problem with the number of vaccines distributed to Batam in the past week," he said.
