DKI Dishub Claims Of Public Transport Passengers Drops 53 Percent

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency recorded a decrease in the number of public transportation passengers during the Implementation of Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM). The decline is claimed to be quite drastic reaching 53.95 percent.

"In urban areas, not only buses, the MRT, LRT as well as TransJakarta and KRL have decreased by 53.95 percent of the number of passengers. This means that there has been a significant decrease in the mobility of citizens in terms of the use of public transportation by 53.95 percent," said Head of the Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo to journalists, Monday, July 19.

Based on the data, a decline also occurred for inter-city inter-provincial transportation (AKAP). According to him, only a few passengers departed to leave Jakarta.

Even at Pulogebang Terminal, East Jakarta, it was recorded that only one passenger was dispatched.

"The number of AKAP passengers who use buses has decreased significantly, so 65.05 percent, the decline is quite drastic," he said.

Syafrin hopes that people will continue to do activities at home. That way, the number of positive cases of COVID-19 can be suppressed.

"We hope that with the active participation of the community, they will postpone their activities so that there is no mobility so that there are no additional positive cases of COVID-19," he said.
