Governor Edy Targets 4,500 People PCR Tests Every Day In North Sumatra

MEDAN - The North Sumatra Provincial Government targets a PCR swab test of at least 4,500 people every day to suppress the spread of COVID-19.

"According to WHO standards, PCR swabs in North Sumatra are at least 2,500 people per day," said Head of the North Sumatran Information and Communications Agency Irman Oemar in Medan, North Sumatra, quoted by Antara, Thursday, July 15.

However, according to him, considering the current conditions, North Sumatra Governor Edy Rahmayadi targets PCR swabs at least 4,500 residents per day.

The increase in the number of inspections is to find out more quickly the number of residents who have been confirmed to have COVID-19 so that the handling can also be faster.

The public, said Irman, can take advantage of the government's free laboratory.

In addition to encouraging examinations, he said, Governor Edy is trying to increase the number of COVID-19 vaccinations and ask public awareness to apply the 5M health protocol, namely washing hands, wearing masks, maintaining distance, staying away from crowds, and reducing mobility.

"The team is studying what causes the large increase in confirmed COVID-19 according to data released by the Ministry of Health and the national COVID-19 Task Force," he said.
