Minimum Opposition, DPR Intelligencewas Potentially Abused Information

JAKARTA - Director of Imparsial, Ardi Manto Adiputra, assessed that the lack of opposition role in parliament has the potential to cause misuse of intelligence information by the newly formed DPR Intelligence Supervisory Team.

Moreover, the majority of the Intelligencewas Team members from the political parties in KIM. Finally, it will only be legitimacy for various policies related to state intelligence. Various violations of intelligence performance will not be investigated in the name of intelligence secrets. In fact, we need individuals who understand and dare to supervise intelligence performance," he explained, Sunday, December 15, 2024.

This can cause public concern if information from intelligence agencies can become an important instrument to suppress or intimidate political opponents. "It is possible that the public thinks this agency is just an entry point for certain parties in the DPR so that they can get A1 information and use that information for certain political interests," added Ardi.

Although it is legal for the DPR to form an Intelligencewas outside Commission I as regulated in Article 43 paragraph 3, the Intelligencewas Team must also be carried out transparently and accountably, considering that this is the only external supervision.

Ardi reminded the Intelligencewas Team not to have the same fate as the DPR's Aspiration Body which seemed to be suspended because it was formed without a clear need and mission. Finally confused myself in starting work. Don't let this Intelligence Team also be ineffective because routine supervision of intelligence agencies has been carried out at Commission I of the DPR," he continued.

As is known, the DPR's intelligencewas Team was ratified by the Chairman of the DPR, Puan Maharani, in the Meeting Room of Commission I, Tuesday, December 3. The team under the coordination of Sufmi Dasco Ahmad as Deputy Chair of the DPR RI Coordinator for Political and Security Affairs (Korpolkam) consists of 13 members of the DPR. Five of them are in the leadership ranks, namely PDIP politician Utut Adianto, Golkar politician Dave Laksono, Gerindra politician Budisatrio Djiwanno, PKS politician Ahmad Heryawan, and Democratic Party cadre Anton Sukartono.
