JAKARTA - Manchester United's interim manager Ruud van Nstelrooy ended his job by setting an unbeaten record. In the last match of his tenure, MU won 3-0 over Leicester City in the English Premier League at Old Trafford Stadium, Sunday, November 10, 2024 evening WIB.

Van Nistelrooy showed his maximum performance when he handled Manchester United temporarily replacing the dismissed Erik ten Hag. Although he, who was an assistant manager, was a candidate, the club finally chose Ruben Amorim, the Sporting CP coach, to handle the Red Devils.

Van Nistelrooy may not be maintained by Manchester United because Amoram, who was already carrying out his duties against Ipswich Town after the competition break, would bring his own assistant. However, Van Nistelrooy still showed a professional attitude when he was a temporary manager.

MU also made a satisfactory result because they were unbeaten in various competitions, including twice defeating Leicester in the Carabao Cup with a convincing score of 5-2. This is MU's biggest win of the season. In the second meeting in the Premier League, MU won 3-0 again.

Previously, MU defeated PAOK 2-0 in the Europa League. This earned MU the first win in European competition. Van Nistelrooy's only failure when Manchester United were held by Chelsea 0-0. The match that MU should have won but they were forced to pocket one point.

Only the second victory over Leicester did not change MU's position in the standings. They are still ranked 13th with point 15. MU points are the same as Bournemouth, but they still lose the goal difference.

Meanwhile, Leicester, who have returned to the Premier League again this season, are still struggling at the bottom. They are ranked 15th with 10 points

In that match, Van Nistelrooy did not make many changes to the composition of the players like when he defeated PAOK. Winger Amad Diallo won the trust again by starting. Together with Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes, he supported the center forward of Rasmus Hojlund.

Diallo, who then played a role by providing assists to Fernandes to open MU's victory. Fernandes finished his mature pass with a hard kick from outside the penalty box in the 17th minute.

Winning 1-0 made MU more aggressive in suppressing the Foxes' defense, even MU did not take long to increase the advantage.

In the 38th minute, MU managed to lead 1-0 after Leicester defender Victor Kristiansen scored an own goal. This started with Fernandes who wanted to head the cross from Noussair Mazraoui.

But the ball then hit his thigh and turned the direction when it hit Kristiansen so that it slid into the net itself. The score 2-0 lasted until the first half was over.

Entering the second half, MU did not change the tempo of the game. They still put pressure on Leicester. Only the hosts had to wait until the second half of the match when they solidified the victory.

This time the goal was produced by Alejandro Garnacho who welcomed Fernandes' assist. A goal was created in the 82nd minute which made MU 3-0. The score did not change until the game was over.

"Ruud van Nistelrooy is filling the void at this club. He really loves this club and wants to bring joy to the players," Fernandes said in response to Van Nistelrooy's end.

"He makes everyone smile with the final result. We really want to say goodbye to him as a manager with satisfactory results because he has done his best," he said.
