KLHK Deploys Bius Shooters To Overcome Conflict Between West Lampung Tigers, Kills 2 People
JAKARTA - Minister of Environment and Forestry (LHK) Siti Nurbaya ensured that a joint team had been deployed to respond to conflicts between tigers and humans in West Lampung, including fielding an anesthetic shooter.
"Now we have deployed a team including anesthetic shooters, so yes, it must be localized, it must be searched, it must be taken. We are from the ministry, we also ask for help from Taman Safari," said LHK Minister Siti Nurbaya when met by the media after the 2024 Forest and Land Fire Management Special Coordination Meeting in Jakarta, Thursday, March 14, was confiscated by Antara.
The Ministry of Environment and Forestry through the Directorate General of Natural Resources and Ecosystem Conservation (KSDAE) has also taken steps to form three joint teams from the Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park Center (TNBBS) and the Bengkulu-Lampung KSDA Center since the end of February 2024.
The patrol team is tasked with monitoring and patrols at the location of the conflict in Suoh District and Bandar Negeri Suoh District in West Lampung Regency. Meanwhile, Director General of KSDAE KLHK Satyawan Pudyatmoko in a statement to ANTARA said that efforts to catch the Sumatran tiger through the installation of four units of trap cages had not been successful, so further rescue measures were needed through arrest efforts using other methods.
He said that in this case, the team of experts from Taman Safari Indonesia (TSI) used reformation equipment (anesthesi) which has technical capacity and is experienced in handling wildlife conflicts. The team is equipped with medical equipment/medicals.
Satyawan reminded the public not to act anarchically after the destruction of one of the resorts on TNBBS after the third attack on West Lampung on March 11 and the joint team continued to work on resolving the issue.
"In the future, we must be able to share space with various wild lives, because they also have functions and roles in the life support system," he said.
