Disney Changes Release Date Of A Number Of Movies: Captain America To Avatar
JAKARTA - Disney changed the release date of several of their films as well as added a new line of films to the release date of their calendar. Star Wars' new film and Moana's live action version are included in the list that makes a number of other film release dates have to be postponed.
The live action film Moana will air on June 27, 2025, followed by the new Star Wars film on December 18, 2026. The third film Deadpool changed from November 8, 2024 to May 3, 2024 and the three Avatar films were postponed to 2025, 2029, and 2031.
Avatar's fifth film will air on December 19, 2031, so this last film will be released 22 years since its first film in 2009.
Marvel films also received changes to release dates, starting with Captain America: Brave New World which originally aired on May 3, 2024 to July 26, 2024. This change also shifted Thunderbolts to December 20, 2024, Blade to February 14, 2025, and Fantastic Four to May 2, 2025.
The new part of the Avengers, namely The Kang Dynasty, has been postponed to May 1, 2026 and Avengers: Secret Wars to May 7, 2027.
Writers Guide Strike or abbreviated as WGA is said to be one of the reasons why Disney has postponed a number of releases. WGA Strike is a protest from the authors to the production house demanding their justice and wages.
WGA Strike is still ongoing today and this has resulted in the delay in the shooting process from a number of series and films.
On the other hand, Disney shared the news about the continuation of the film Avatar. Jon Landau as the producer said they were working hard to bring Pandora's story to 2025.
Every Avatar film is a fun journey and takes time to bring quality levels like the filmmakers and audiences imagine. The team worked hard and couldn't wait to bring the audience back to Pandora in December 2025, "wrote Jon Landau.
