JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin asked the National Police to continue to investigate allegations of indications of political funding from narcotics networks.

"The important thing is to explore first. So now we are really investigating until we are really sure the facts are clear," said the Vice President as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, May 26.

Ma'ruf Amin said that the National Police would also be able to consider whether it was necessary or not to reveal the names involved in it, including news about the involvement of legislative members.

"I think the Police will be able to consider when it is necessary. I think they know when to open it if it is necessary to open it," said the vice president.

Previously, the Directorate of Drug Crimes at the National Police's Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) detected indications of political funding in the 2024 General Election (Pemilu) originating from a narcotics network.

Deputy Director of Drug Crimes at the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency Kombes Jayadi said the indication was not new, but had appeared in the 2019 General Election.

"So far, are there any indications of involvement in the narcotics network, then the funds for electoral contestation in 2024, we are currently providing understanding today. However, the indication is that if you look at the data, it will allow it to exist," said Kombes Jayadi.

However, Jayadi did not elaborate on the findings. This can be seen from the various reports that have been circulating on the Internet.

"As we know, many members of the legislature are involved in illicit narcotics trafficking. I can't say the percentage. If the crowding (explored) on the internet, all the legislative members involved appeared," he said.
