Congratulations! Indonesian Men's Beach Volleyball Team Bears Second Victory

JAKARTA - The Indonesian men's beach volleyball team recorded their second win in the preliminary round of the Cambodian SEA Games 2023 team Pool B, after beating Thailand with a score of 2-1 at Sihanoukville Beach, Cambodia, Saturday, May 13.

Indonesia fell behind first when the first team strengthened by Danangsyah Yudisthira Pribadi and Gilang Ramadhan had to admit the superiority of Pithak Tipjan and Poravid Taovato in three games, 17-21, 21-18, and 17-19.

The Indonesian team 2 which fielded the duo Mohammad Ashfiya and Akbar Bintang equalized through a victory over Dinwinit Kaewsai/Surin Jongklang in two games 21-11 and 21-17.

With this draw, the winner is determined through the golden match. In this round each team is allowed to play a different composition from the four registered players.

Thailand chose to combine Dinwinit Kaewsai with Poravid Taovato, while Indonesia deployed Team Indonesia 2 Mohammad Ashfiya and Akbar Bintang.

Ashfiya/Akbar proved to be more compact than Thailand's new combination so that they could provide a winning number for the Red and White in a two-game straight game with a score of 21-12 and 21-14.

Quoted from ANTARA, the second victory brought Indonesia to the top of the Pool B standings with points four, followed by Thailand and Singapore with points three, while Malaysia was in a distended position with a score of two.

Mohammad Ashfiya and his friends will next compete against Singapore on Sunday, May 14.

The men's beach volleyball is one of Indonesia's mainstays to win the gold medal because throughout the history of this number's match at the SEA Games, Indonesia dominated by sweeping all the titles from seven events since it was competed at the 2003 SEA Games in Vietnam.

Beach volleyball numbers are not competed in the 2013 SEA Games (Myanmar), 2015 (Singapore), and 2017 (Malaysia).
