Ship Accidents Take Dozens Of People Died, Riau Police Intervene

PekanBARU - The police immediately examined the crew of the ship to investigate the cause of the fast boat accident

"If there are allegations of unlawful acts in this tragedy, it is certain that an investigation will be carried out soon," said Riau Police Chief Inspector General Mohammad Iqbal as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, April 28.

In principle, Iqbal continued, if the incident was caused by acts against the law, such as overload, the police would conduct an investigation and take firm action against the responsible party.

Until now, the police are still investigating and examining the incident. "If an unlawful act is found, we will brush and examine the crew of the ship," he added.

During a visit to Indragiri Hilir, the Riau Police Chief together with Danrem 031/Wira Bima Brigadier General Dany Rakca Andalasawan will examine conditions in the field related to the ship accident.

"Together with Mr. Danrem, I want to ensure that the handling (ship accident) by the Police, TNI and other stakeholders runs optimally by providing assistance, medical care, and evacuating the remaining passengers. The development of one (passenger) who has not met and we also want to motivate personnel," he said.

Previously, a speedboat (fast boat) totaling Calisca 01 had an accident on Thursday, April 27 at around 13.40 WIB in the waters of the Fresh Water border between Kateman District and Bird Island.

The passenger speedboat departed from Pelindo Tembilahan Port, Indragiri Hilir Regency, to Tanjung Pinang, Riau Islands Province.
