The Attitude Of The Government Of The Republic Of Indonesia Regarding The Difference In The 2023 Eid Al-Fitr Date Appreciated By The Chairman Of PP Muhammadiyah

JAKARTA - General Chairperson of Muhammadiyah Central Executive Haedar Nashir appreciated the Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas who was considered capable of protecting different Muslims in determining 1 Syawal 1444 H/2023 AD.

"I think this is the progress of the minister of religion. We give high appreciation where it shows good tolerance. That is what the government should do," said Haedar after releasing the 2023 Gema Takbir Jogja contingent at the Gedhe Kauman Mosque Courtyard, Yogyakarta, as reported by Antara on Thursday night.

He also appreciated the government for providing opportunities for different components of Muslims to celebrate Eid to participate in using public facilities.

"We appreciate the government for protecting and providing opportunities for different people to use public facilities, as well as doing syiar," he said.

Haedar ensured that all Muhammadiyah residents throughout the country had now determined the location for the Eid prayer on Friday (21/4).

"So God willing, we have published the place and location," said Haedar.

According to Haedar, the government's willingness to grant permits to use public facilities is not only for the benefit of Muhammadiyah citizens, but for Muslims as a whole.

"No one loses if the government invites (public facilities) to be used (Idul Fitri) on April 21 and the same field is used on April 22, in fact, the positive value in the nation is good and God's blessings will be open," he said.

Previously, Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas issued a circular regarding the implementation of Eid al-Fitr 1444 H, one of which contained a message to maintain Islamic ukhuwah in responding to the potential for initial differences in Syawal.

The government through the Ministry of Religion has set 1 Shawwal 1444 Hijri or Eid Al-Fitr 2023 AD to fall on Saturday (22/4), after being decided in an isbat session held at the Ministry of Religion Building, Jakarta, Thursday.

Meanwhile, Muhammadiyah has set Eid al-Fitr on Friday (21/4) which is based on the criteria for hilal formulation.
