JAKARTA - The classic Italian automaker Lancia is starting to plan to move to the EV realm. The plan will reportedly take place next April.

Lancia is the producer under the control of the 3rd Stellantis who will enter the realm of electric cars. Previously, there were the names Alfa Romeo and DS who first expressed interest.

The CEO of Lancia, Luca Napolitano said that the manufacturer based in Turin, Italy will focus on the design of future generations of EVs. However, he said that his design would be inspired by the previous Lancia models such as Aurelia, Stratos, Delta, and 037 Stradale.

"This brilliant and wealthy past is an endless source of inspiration and will lead a leap to next-generation products aimed at reaching countries and markets other than Italy," Napolitano said in a press statement from the company.

2024 is Lancia's target to launch at least three electric vehicles, before completely moving to electric in 2028 as part of a 10-year strategic plan. For the first EV, Luca will call them Ypsilon. This car is a "city car" with a backlight similar to Stratos with an environmentally friendly interior.

"We will start with a new generation of Ypsilon, the first electric Lancia, then a new high-end sedan in 2026 and in 2028 we will set a reborn for Delta," Luca concluded.
