Huawei Has Petal Maps To Replace Google Maps

JAKARTA - Huawei is getting serious about getting rid of Android dependence. Given the sanctions from the United States (US) which made his cellphone no longer able to use the official Google application.

Along with the release of Mate 40, Huawei introduced its digital map application, namely Petal Maps. The application will replace the Google Maps service that has been absent from Huawei since the Mate 30 series.

The digital map application is a service from the Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) Core ecosystem. Petal Maps was developed with the TomTom Go Navigation platform to provide directions like Google Maps.

Quoted from Forbes, Petal Maps provides digital map views in 140 countries and some of them include information about traffic conditions. Then there is the option to view the location including the building in 3D.

"Petal Maps is a clear indication of Huawei's desire to create something world-class without Google," wrote Forbes, Monday, October 26.

Previously, Huawei also released Petal Search, which is now given a new function to recognize pictorial content. Petal Search was developed to replace the Google Seach function, which is no longer present on Huawei's latest devices.

This search engine is also integrated with Huawei's AppGaleri service, as an alternative to finding and downloading applications. This application will search for apk for the application you are looking for from various sources, both from AppGallery and third-party apk providers.
