Polri Delays Examination Chairman Of The WE Executive Committee Ahmad Yani
JAKARTA - The Directorate of Cyber Crime, Bareskrim Polri decided to postpone the investigation of the Executive Chairman of the Coalition for Action to Save Indonesia (WE), Ahmad Yani. The reason is that investigators are still focused on handling cases of other high-ranking US officials.
"Not yet (summons). The investigators yesterday concentrated on the legal process so it was still postponed," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Awi Setiyono to reporters, October 26.
In addition, said Awi, Ahmad Yani's summons would only be made if investigators deemed it necessary.
"Indeed, we have asked the investigator to take action. Of course, the chance will come back later depending on whether the investigator is needed or not as a witness," he said.
Previously, Ahmad Yani emphasized that he would not fulfill the summons for questioning at the Police Criminal Investigation Unit. Ahmad Yani was summoned as a witness regarding the development of cases of hate speech and incitement on Friday, October 23.
"No (fulfill the call), I came in what capacity?" said Ahmad Yani to reporters, Friday, October 23.
Ahmad Yani confirmed that until now he had not received a summons. Although the police previously said they had scheduled the examination.
"I have not (received) an official call. (Summons) have not come to my house, I have not yet come to my office," he said.
Originally, Ahmad Yani's examination was a development of the suspect Anton Permana, who is the WE declaration. During the examination, Ahmad Yani, who is also a politician from the United Development Party (PPP), was a witness.
In this case, Bareskrim Polri named 9 people as suspects for the spread of hate speech and incitement related to the chaos of demonstrations against the Job Creation Law.
Of the 9 people, 7 of whom are members and high-ranking US officials, among others, Syahganda Nainggolan, Anton Permana, Jumhur Hidayat, Juliana, Devi, Khairi Amri, Wahyu Rasari Putri.
As for the other two, namely former PKS legislative candidates Kingkin Anida and Dedy Wahyudi, the owner of the social media account @podoradong.
They were suspected of having different articles. However, in general they are charged with the ITE Law, articles on hate speech and the spread of hoaxes.
