Ex Danjen Kopassus Soenarko Examined For Illegal Senpi Case Tomorrow
JAKARTA - Bareksrim Polri will investigate former Kopasus Special Forces Commander Major General (Purn) Soenarko regarding possession of illegal firearms. The examination is scheduled to take place Tuesday, October 20, tomorrow.
"The schedule is tomorrow, I have already asked investigators about the schedule for tomorrow," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Awi Setiyono, to reporters, Monday, October 19.
Meanwhile, Soenarko's lawyer, Fery Firman Nurwahyu, said that his client would be investigated for the case that occurred in 2019. The lawyer confirmed that Soenarko would attend the examination.
"The call from investigators is for Tuesday. God willing, it will be present," he said.
Previously, Fery suspected that the investigation of his client was not related to the possession of illegal firearms. His client is suspected to be investigated in connection with the Indonesian Coalition to Save Indonesia (US).
The suspicion arose because in the case of illegal gun ownership there were no new facts that could be conveyed. Moreover, evidence in the form of firearms has been destroyed.
"Yes (it leads to US) if the question to the pekara (firearms) there is no progress. The answer is that," said Fery to reporters, Friday, October 16.
Fery said Soenarko has a close relationship with the OUR Presidum, Gatot Nurmantyo. But regarding his client who is a member of or is affiliated with US, Fery cannot confirm.
"If that later can be asked directly to him (Soenarko) after the examination," he said.
Soenarko was originally scheduled to be examined on Friday, October 16. However, due to health problems, the examination was forced to be postponed.
In this case, Soenarko was suspected of smuggling firearms from Aceh for use in the May 22 2019 riot which was considered to have the potential to disrupt national security.
In this case, Soenarko had been at the POM Guntur detention center, South Jakarta for some time. Until finally he was released after TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto volunteered as a guarantee for the suspension of Soenarko's detention.
