TGPF Intan Jaya Finish Work, Findings Will Be Delivered By Mahfud MD Next Monday
JAKARTA - The Intan Jaya Joint Fact-Finding Team (TGPF) has finished work. Henceforth, this team will immediately convey their important findings regarding the shooting incident that killed a number of people including Pastor Yeremia to the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD on Monday, 19 October.
"The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs will deliver the team's achievements on Monday," said Head of the TGPF Intan Jaya Investigation Team Benny Mamoto at a press conference held online, Saturday, October 17.
Although initially, the team felt that the 14 days given by Mahfud was a small amount of time to investigate the shooting that occurred in Intan Jaya, however, because the team consisted of many elements such as academics to religious leaders, this target could be achieved.
In carrying out his duties, Benny also emphasized that the work of him and his team can be trusted by the government.
"The team provides the widest possible opportunity for representatives to ask questions to clarify. We give freedom not to direct so that the goal of making this case can be achieved. We can be sure that the report from this team will be trusted because it is given the widest opportunity to explore," he said.
During the process of carrying out investigative work, continued Benny, his team always used a cultural approach. This is because this team is not an investigator team. "We merely collect facts on the ground to make light," he said.
As for the cultural approach he means to be careful in using words. Because, this team does not only work in the middle of the city but also into the countryside. Thus, this team often met with religious and community leaders before meeting with those who were suspected of knowing the shooting case to find out about the existing customs.
"So after we get input from the community and religious leaders in TGPF who are with us, then when we have an audience with them, we meet them at the residence and they accept that step," he said.
"For example, we first came to the grave, we prayed together at Hitadipa. We convey our condolences to the family, after we were done with our new residence, at our residence we started a dialogue which was translated by our members. From there the process flowed and we were well received," he added. Chairman of this National Police Commission.
As a result of these kinds of processes, said Benny, which led Pastor Jeremiah's family to finally agree to an autopsy of the body and prepare an examination report (BAP).
"We discussed at length. We didn't just ask to sign it because there were several processes," he said.
Previously, the Government formed a Joint Fact Finding Team (TGPF) to investigate the shooting incident that took place in Intan Jaya Regency, Papua. Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD said that the team was formed through the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Decree Number 83 of 2020 filled by a number of names from elements of officials at the Kemenkopolhukam, TNI, Polri, Presidential Staff Office, State Intelligence Agency, to community leaders.
"This team is given the task starting from the initial issuance of the decree until the next two weeks to report the results to the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs," Mahfud said in an online press conference, Friday, October 2.
