Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra Leaks: No Increase In Camera Sensors

JAKARTA Many suspect that Samsung will bring a big improvement to the Galaxy S27 Ultra camera. However, it seems that fans of this flagship phone should hold back their expectations.

The phone, which will be released in 2027, is reportedly not going to use a larger camera sensor than the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. In fact, rumors previously circulated that this phone will change its sensor.

Samsung is said to be replacing the 200MP sensor measuring 1/1.3 inches that has been used since the S23 Ultra. Some parties suspect that the Galaxy S27 Ultra will use the Sony LYT-901 sensor, but Samsung will not adopt the sensor.

This news was leaked by Ice Universe, a prominent informant. Samsung's plan to keep using the same sensor sounds reasonable considering Samsung is producing its own sensor, namely ISOCELL.

However, more importantly, Samsung actually reduces the size of the 200MP sensor year after year, instead of raising it. For example, the ISOCELL HP1 sensor has a size of 1/1.22 inches, while the ISOCELL HP2 on the S23 Ultra is 1/1.3 inches.

Smaller sensor sizes with smaller pixels tend to produce less accurate signals and relatively worse image quality. Therefore, an upgrade of the Galaxy S27 Ultra camera is not expected to be satisfactory.

The Galaxy S27 Ultra will most likely use a slightly updated version of the 1/1.3-inch ISOCELL sensor. Samsung will likely continue to rely on software processing to maximize photo results.
