Bird Theory Is Going Viral, Can't You Measure Your Partner's Attention?

JAKARTA - Recently, a unique relationship test has emerged involving birds. The hairy and hot-blooded animal is now used as a new way to assess the couple's concern and concern.

This relationship experiment is known as 'bird theory' or bird theory. The way is quite simple, one mentions the question of seeing a bird, even birds that don't really exist in casual conversations with their partner.

Most of those who try are women, who then record their partner's reactions when they tell that they see birds while on the move outside. The goal is to measure how much your partner is interested in small things and looks trivial.

According to one social media user, this test is done to see if they will be interested and ask more about something you see, even though it sounds stupid and just ordinary birds.

Licensed mental health therapist Vanessa Milagros explained in a video of her explanation on October 21, 2025.

"It's not about the birds, but about whether you feel cared for," he said, quoted from the USA Today page.

Although most of the experiments were carried out by ordinary people, this bird theory also attracted the attention of people close to the celebrity world. One of them is a couple from rapperYung Gravey, who had tested his reaction. Some managed to pass with a warm response. But also those who looked confused because they did not understand the direction of the conversation.

This trend became popular on TikTok at the end of October. Based on videos compiled by USA TODAY, people are trying to tell about seeing birds, both real and fake, to see how their partner responds.

Couples who are considered to have graduated usually ask further questions, additional comments or funny stories in response. Many consider the level of interest of couples in small conversations like this can reflect their overall attention and affection.

But some people admit they may not think about asking further if the context is too little.

According to Milagros, although this bird theory is not a scientific method, the concept behind it is actually related to psychology.

He explained that this touched on a concept that the therapists often discussed, namely 'bids for connection' or small efforts to connect emotionally.

Small attempts such as sharing funny memes, telling stories about trivial things that happened that day, or simply mentioning seeing birds, can build trust, emotional security, and closeness in relationships.

However, Milagros reminded that this experiment should not be used as a place to assess or calculate who failed or succeeded.

"Everyone must have missed the moment. We can't always focus or be ready to respond at any time. The important thing is the overall pattern," he explained

"Do they usually welcome your stories? Do you feel viewed and appreciated?" he continued.
