Bad Weather, Overturned Fishing Boat In The Alas Strait Of NTB

Members of the Polairud Unit of the East Lombok Police, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province rescued five fishermen whose boats capsized while fishing in the waters of the Alas-Kayangan Strait in the local area.

"The boats of the victims capsized with a Coordinator point of 8°30'21.8"S 116°40'47.2"E. In this incident there were no casualties," said East Lombok Police Head of Polairud AKP Sudarman, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, August 4.

He said the five fishermen included Hariadi (45), a resident of Menara Baris Hamlet, Gunung Malang Village, Pringgabaya District, Rizjy Azhari (17), M Jenek (47), Yahya (55), the three residents of Penyangkar Village, Montong Gading District, and Irianto (17) a resident of Galih Village, Montong Gading District.

"All the survivors," he said.

The incident began when the victims went to look for fish by boat on Sunday (3/8), after arriving at the scene, the boats of the fishermen capsized due to bad weather.

Furthermore, his party received reports that a fishing boat capsized and immediately dispatched members to the TKP and evacuated victims and garbage.

It was stated that Sudarman, the victim was evacuated using a ship belonging to the Sat Polairud, including dragging the victim's canoe by boat.

"The victims were taken to the puskesmas for medical treatment and the victim was sent home after being picked up by his family," he said.

For this incident, his party appealed to the public or fishermen to remain alert to the waves when carrying out fishing activities, so that the same thing does not happen.

"We urge fishermen to remain vigilant when carrying out activities at sea," he said.
