Tom Lembong's Abolition, A Form Of State Law Corrections
JAKARTA - The Legal Advisory Team from Thomas Trikasih Lembong alias Tom Lembong, Dodi Abdul Kadir, emphasized that giving abolition to his client was a form of real state correction to the legal process which was considered unfair.
According to him, President Prabowo Subianto's decision to rule out cases involving his client was not merely an administrative act, but a sign that the law enforcement system needed to be addressed.
"With the abolition, this proves that the state is aware of the need for corrective action. The legal process against Pak Tom is not just stopped, but was declared wrong from the start," said Dodi to reporters, Friday, August 1.
During more than eight months of the process, continued Dodi, many irregularities appeared at the trial and became public attention.
Support from various parties such as civil society to academics is a big impetus in demanding justice.
"This case does not stand alone. What Mr. Tom experienced can happen to anyone. So when the President makes the decision to rule out this case, it means that the legal system needs to be thoroughly addressed," he said.

Dodi added that this abolition legally means that the entire process against Tom Lembong, including investigations, prosecutions, and appeals, was declared null and void.
"Everything is done. There is no longer a binding legal burden. This is not a reduction in punishment, this is a total cancellation. And that means the state recognizes that Pak Tom's process is not feasible to continue with," he said.
When asked about the possibility of further legal steps against those who processed this case, Dodi stated that the legal team was not focused on it. However, he stressed the importance of making this case a national reflection.
"We are not talking about replying. But the state must learn. Because the public has high hopes that the legal system can be fair and rational. If it is not corrected, then legal uncertainty will continue to haunt anyone," said Dodi.
