Encouraging Growth, Bukalapak Plans To Strengthen Local Game Business Ecosystems
JAKARTA - PT Bukalapak.com Tbk (BUKA) revealed the company's plan to support the local gaming business ecosystem and investment in Indonesia in improving future performance.
Director and CEO of BukaFinancial and Commerce Bukalapak Victor Putra Lesmana, said that the game and investment business has been developed for the last few years and has entered 2 segments of the company, namely the digital segment and the marketplace segment.
The company currently has two gaming brands on its platform, namely Itemku and Lapak Gaming. This service is intended for consumers (B2C), but is also available for business needs (B2B).
"If we look at the Bukalapak gaming ecosystem, it continues to grow by using business models that are also different in segments. Moreover, the business model is C or business to consumers, as well as business, the business model is C or consumer to consumer. And it is done through our platform, namely my platform item and Gaming Lapak," he explained in a virtual public expose on Thursday, January 16.
In addition, the top up game service is also one of the company's largest revenue contributors, in addition to physical products in e-commerce services.
In the future, Victor said that his party is committed to continuing to develop services in gaming products not only by increasing the number of games available on the platform but also by developing a gaming ecosystem in Indonesia as a whole and as well as its scope.
According to him, one of them is that it can help to develop and support the local game market in Indonesia by actively collaborating with various stakeholders.
"From local game developers or players in the industry, which are in Indonesia and internationally with game associations with the government and also with community leaders who will be involved in this gaming industry," he added.
In addition, Victor conveyed that his party's focus is to create a gaming ecosystem in Indonesia first because of the great potential for the gaming industry so that it wants to support the development of the domestic gaming ecosystem before entering the international market.

"We also believe that if we start by supporting the development of local teams and calculating their user bases in Indonesia, it will help us too to be able to provide competitive gaming solutions and will be relevant to be brought to the international market in the future," he said.
In line with Victor, President Director and CEO of Bukalapak, Willix Halim, explained that the company has strengthened its business focus on developing virtual product, gaming, investment, and Mitra Bukalapak services.
"In October 2024, BUKA has announced a long-term strategy that includes business restructuring and focuses on the virtual product, gaming, investment, retail, and Mitra Bukalapak business," he said.
