Application For Disaster Emergency Assistance By Jakarta High School Students

JAKARTA - There's nothing wrong with the Quick Assistance (BAPAT) app must be a mandatory application on your device. Apart from the work of the nation's children - still in high school - this application is necessary for Indonesian citizens who are indeed surrounded by natural disasters.

The BAPAT application was made by Jakarta Intercultural School (JIS) high school student Michael Mulianto to deal with disaster emergency response. The application, which will soon be released on the Play Store, allows users to understand situations and emergencies during a disaster.

"BAPAT is a solution in providing quick assistance during emergencies, especially during disasters," said Michael at the United States Cultural Center @america, Jakarta, Saturday, November 9.

This 3rd grade high school student explained, BAPAT is an interactive application containing various materials for help questions around smartphone users. BAPAT serves to provide step-by-step guidance to its users; on how to act on several types of disasters including earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, forest fires, floods and typhoons.

The app has a chat bot (a kind of robot) that can provide advice on more than 50 ailments and find the nearest hospital when needed. There is also an emergency call button which users can use when experiencing serious problems.

Although currently only available in English, he said, BAPAT will still be developed so that it is available in Indonesian so that its benefits can reach all levels of society in Indonesia.

BAPAT, he continued, has a feature that has better performance when the cellphone is connected to the internet or online / online. However, the application can be used when the cellphone is outside the internet network (offline / offline).

"Some features are 'online' but 'offline' ones are still limited. Everyone now has a 'smartphone' even in the village so they can take advantage of it," he said.

BAPAT still needs a lot of development here and there. For example, BATAT must be made as attractive as possible so that it can be read and understood first. Because it is almost impossible for BATT to be read by someone who has just been hit by a natural disaster. They are already confused about how to save themselves.

But at least, BATAT has garnered a lot of attention. Even Professor Dr. Ir Kazan Gunawan (Permanent Professor of Esa Unggul University), Professor Dr. Moermahadi Soerja Djanegara (Permanent Professor of the Bogor Unity STIE Accounting Study Program, former Chairman of the Indonesian Audit Board) and Major General Komaruddin Simanjuntak (Expert of the National Disaster Management Agency , a retired TNI-AD High Officer, former Commander of the IX / Udayana Military Regional Command) was present at the launch of BAPAT.
