JAKARTA - After months of testing, finally the digital payment services owned by Facebook and WhatsApp officially launched today. Brazil is the first country to enjoy the service.

Quoted from The Verge, Tuesday 16 June, this new WhatsApp feature also supports the Facebook Pay service which was first introduced in 2018.With this feature people will be able to send money safely or make purchases from local businesses without leaving their chat.

The beta version of WhatsApp Payment is also present in India. In his statement, WhatsApp explained that this digital payment service can be accessed for free, even for non-business users.

This service is claimed to be quite safe and very similar to the M-banking system we usually use, because it will work by entering a six-digit PIN or fingerprint to complete a transaction.

"We have built an open model to welcome more partners in the future," said Facebook.

In Brazil, WhatsApp supports the use of debit or credit cards from Banco do Brasil, Nubank, and Sicredi. WhatsApp also supports the Visa and Mastercard networks by partnering with Cielo, a leading payment processor in Brazil.
