JAKARTA - Grab plans to invite 379 thousand driver partners to take digital literacy training with Microsoft. This activity will be carried out in 234 cities in Indonesia through GrabAcademy.

The purpose of this activity is to reduce the gap in the digital economy or in terms of the popularity of industry 4.0. Because referring to the McKinsey study, 14 percent of the global workforce will probably replace jobs by 2030.

Managing Director of Grab Indonesia, Neneng Goenadi, said that Grab partners will take part in digital skills that coincide with National Education Day, so they are able to compete and develop in facing industry 4.0. "Together with Microsoft, organizing online training classes where Grab driver-partners can access and participate in the digital literacy certification program through GrabAcademy which is available in the Grab partner application," said Neneng in an official statement received by VOI , Thursday, April 30.

"The training they can participate in covers topics such as basic computer science, how to use the Internet and productivity support software. We hope this will provide driver partners with the technology skills they need to thrive in the digital economy," he explained.

This collaboration between Grab and Microsoft is one of the first steps in preparing Grab driver-partners to continue to compete in this changing world of work.

Meanwhile, President Director of Microsoft Indonesia Haris Izme explained that Indonesian society has grown in the last 25 years. During that time, Microsoft has provided training for 18 million teachers and students to develop new skills to face the challenges of the digital economy.

"This initiative with Grab driver-partners strengthens our commitment to empower every person and organization in Indonesia to achieve more, to create an Indonesian society that is inclusive, skilled and sustainable," added Haris.

For information, GrabAcademy has been introduced since September 2018 and then collaborated with Microsoft in developing three digital literacy programs, namely access to online information, using the Internet safely and responsibly, and managing content digitally.

Where as of April 2020, more than 379,000 Grab driver partners and partners from various cities in Indonesia have completed online digital literacy training from Microsoft for Subject 1. Later, after completing the training, they will receive Microsoft and GrabAcademy certifications to develop independent businesses.
