JAKARTA The social media platform X owned by Elon Musk has increased the price of premium-plus subscriptions in various markets starting December 21, 2024. This step is taken to increase payments to content creators on the platform.

In its official blog, X announced that premium-plus packages are now priced at 22 US dollars per month in the United States, up from the previous 16 US dollars. Meanwhile, prices for basic (US $ 3) and premium (US $ 8) packages remain unchanged.

In October, X updated its revenue sharing policy. The move aims to ensure that subscription fees contribute more directly to content creator payments. Creators are now compensated based on content quality and user engagement, not just from the display of ads.

This new price applies to new customers, while members who have subscribed will still enjoy the old tariff until January 20, 2025.

Premium-plus subscribers get some additional benefits, including ad-free browsing experience, wider access to Grok AI chatbots, as well as Radar features that provide up-to-date trend analysis through real-time keyword tracking.

The subscription is an important part of Musk's strategy to drive revenue growth on X. Previously known as Twitter, the platform had long relied on revenue from advertising before being acquired by Elon Musk.
