JAKARTA - Digital video platforms have now experienced a shift in format. Previously, people tended to enjoy videos horizontally, but now videos with vertical formats are more enjoyed according to YouTube's internal data.

Business people promoting their ads on social media should better understand this development to achieve tangible business outcomes, including by switching from horizontal videos to vertical formats. The reason is, videos with vertical formats are shown to be profitable.

YouTube says that creative videos are vertically able to generate more conversions per dollar on YouTube Shorts than horizontal formats. In fact, this profit reaches 10 to 20 percent more.

Looking at this potential, Asia-Pacific YouTube Regional Director Ajay Vidyasagar said that YouTube wants to open up more opportunities for businesses to advertise on YouTube with upgraded Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology.

One of the AI technologies that Ajay introduced was Flip and Trim, a content change feature from horizontal to vertical. This feature automatically adjusts the brandke ads in thefeedShorts format. According to Ajay, Flip and Trim is one of the big profitable projects.

Everything is an advertising solution that fits Google. We are very, very happy because of this feature we got a lot of advertisers coming to us. They are very, very happy with this," Ajay explained at the Southeast Asia YouTube Works Awards: The Finale 2023 today.

Apart from Flip and Trim, YouTube also presents technology in the form of AI-Powered Automatic Voiceover Generation. Through this technology, advertisements presented can be automatically changed to other languages such as Indonesian, Vietnamese, and various other languages.

Not only that, YouTube will also present a Demand Gen feature that can show advertisements on all YouTube platforms in order to get high engagement and Video Views Campaign features to help advertisers maximize the number of views.

YouTube itself has not released several features with this AI technology. However, Ajay said that they would soon announce it and notify all advertisers on YouTube.

"This variety of AI-based technologies is encouraging us to further innovate and we believe our advertisers now have the opportunity to succeed without any complexity by using all AI technology and solutions," Ajay concluded.
