JAKARTA - Google has just launched an Arts & Culture application redesigned for Android, with iOS coming soon.
The Google Arts & Culture app has more than 3,000 partners from around the world who provide a place where everyone can engage with a variety of cultural contributions and explore their common thread through cultural lenses.
"In order for this partner contribution to be more accessible and intuitive to explore, we have made several updates to our mobile app, creating new ways to find and engage with culture," said Google Arts & Culture Product Manager Joe Shepherd in his announcement, quoted Thursday, August 10.
In the Explore tab, users can search for a myriad of cultural topics such as art, food, fashion, crafts, and science. They can choose between exploring artifacts, cultural stories, collections of partners, and others, then perfect exploration with many dimensions such as place, topic, and creator.
Users can also find unexpected inter-cultural connections by clicking on a cultural flywheel, which will reveal various related cultural content to continue exploration.
"Start your search with Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring and cultural flywheel will explore cross-cultural relationships featuring depictions of other jewelry throughout the region and time," said Shepherd.
"We are always investigating new ways to connect cultural content so that this feature will continue to develop over time."
Google also brings a more personalized Inspire feed similar to TikTok in the Arts & Culture application, by displaying cultural highlights based on users' favorite content.
Then in the new Play tab, users can experiment with camera tools such as Art Selfie, Art Filter and games such as Blob Opera and the newly launched Viola the Bird.
The company also carries a Poemic Postcard feature, where users can send AI-made postcards to friends. With this new feature, they can choose works of art from soneta, Haiku, humorous rhymes, or others to compose poetry inspired by Google's PaLM 2 model-based art. This feature is now available in certain countries.
Users can access this feature by looking for works of art that you like on Google Arts & Culture and clicking the Poem Postcards button to start creating and sharing poetry.
