JAKARTA - OpenAI, a very popular chatbot ChatGPT developer, plans to launch a marketplace that will allow developers to sell AI models built on OpenAI's AI technology. This was reported by the news website The Information on Tuesday, June 20, citing sources with knowledge of discussions at the company.
Business customers who use ChatGPT often adjust the technology for their special needs, ranging from identifying financial fraud from online transaction data to answering questions about certain markets based on internal documents. According to the news report, these model makers can offer it to other businesses through the marketplace proposed by OpenAI.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman revealed the potential plan in a meeting with developers in London last month, the report said.
Such a marketplace can compete with app stores run by several company customers and technology partners, including Salesforce and Microsoft, as well as help OpenAI technology reach a wider customer base. OPENAI itself has not responded to a request for comment from Reuters.
The Information also reports that two company customers, Aquant, created the software manufacturers use to guide customers in device maintenance and repair, as well as educational app developer Khan Academy, may be interested in offering their ChatGPT-backed AI model in the OpenAI marketplace.
