JAKARTA - After the hacking incident on the MOVEit Progress Software file transfer application, the United States State Department (US) offered millions of dollars for anyone who provided information regarding the Cl0P gang.

Under the Justice Prize (RFJ) program, as much as 10 million US dollars or equivalent to Rp150 billion will be given to informants for information linking the Clopp ransomware attack with foreign governments.

"Do you have any information linking the CL0P Ransomware Gang or any other malicious cyber actor targeting critical US infrastructure to foreign governments?", the US State Department tweeted via its RFJ account.

"Send us information. You can fulfill the requirements to get a prize," he added

The State Department has also prepared a special Tor Secure Drop server that can be used to transmit information about CL0P and other threat actors.

CL0P aka TA505, is a Russian-language ransomware gang that claims to have attacked hundreds of organizations through defects in the MOVEit application, as quoted by Computing, Tuesday, June 20.

The attack began on May 27, during the long holiday of US Warning Day, which the CL0P ransomware gang later claimed to have stolen data from hundreds of companies.

However, CL0P has stated on its website that any data taken from government agencies will be removed. Unfortunately, this week CL0P began blackmailing companies by listing their names on data leak sites.

The gang also threatened to publish sensitive data stolen from BA, BBC, Shell, Johns Hopkins University and others if the ransom was not paid.

Last week, several US federal government agencies, including the Department of Energy, were also compromised. The US government suspects the possibility that the Russian government is also involved in it.
