Kemenkominfo Responds To Determination Of Suspect Johnny Plate

The Minister of Communication and Information, Johnny G. Plate, is a suspect in the alleged corruption case of the Base Transceiver Station (BTS) project.

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Information (Kemenkominfo) has finally opened its voice regarding the appointment of the Minister of Communication and Information, Johnny G. Plate as a suspect in the alleged corruption case of the 4G Base Transceiver Station (BTS) project by the Attorney General's Office (AGO).

In his statement, the Ministry of Communication and Information stated that he would respect and obey the legal process of his leadership.

"The Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) respects and obeys all ongoing legal processes in the alleged corruption case of the BTS Public Service Agency (BLU) project for the Telecommunication and Information Accessibility Agency (BAKTI)," said the Ministry of Communication and Information in a statement, Wednesday, May 17.

Plate is suspected of being involved in corruption in the infrastructure management project 4,200 BTS sites and supporting infrastructure packages 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 BLU BAKTI in 2020-2022 for 4G networks.

The determination of the suspect was carried out after Plate was examined today by the AGO. From the examination process, sufficient evidence was found regarding his involvement.

After that, Plate was immediately detained and will be placed in the Salemba detention center at the AGO branch. However, the Ministry of Communication and Information stated that it would continue to carry out their duties in the midst of the current legal process without the role of Plate.

"In the midst of the existing legal process, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics continues to carry out the administration of government and public services in accordance with the main tasks and functions, and in accordance with the provisions of the applicable laws and regulations," said the Ministry of Communication and Information.

Apart from Plate, in this case the AGO has also named five other suspects, namely AAL as the President Director of Bakti Kominfo, GMS as the President Director of PT Mora Telematika Indonesia, YS as the Human Development Expert at the University of Indonesia in 2020, MA as Account Director of Integrated Account Department of PT Huawei Tech Investment, IH as Commissioner of PT Solitech Media Sinergy.
