When it comes to charging in public, the FBI recommends that people continue to use USB cables, plugs for chargers, portable chargers, or external batteries.

As a solution, the FBI provides similar guidance on its official website to avoid HP charging facilities in public places. However, the guide does not show examples of special cases and losses experienced by consumers from the hack.

On the other hand, warnings regarding battery jacking (hacking action by modifying battery charging stations for work using USB charging have been conveyed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) since 2021.

The FCC warns the public about USB cables that have the potential to be hijacked through software which can then suck up usernames and passwords.
