JAKARTA - Google is starting to get to a better future by rolling out a code key that users can use to log into Google accounts on all major platforms.

Starting today, Google users can switch to password and passwords and a Two Step Verification (2FA) code fully when logging into their account.

Password keys are a more secure and convenient password alternative driven by Google, Apple, Microsoft, and other technology companies in line with the FIDO Alliance.

With a password key, users no longer need to rely on the name of the pet, birthday, or other to use as a password.

On the other hand, users can log in to the application and online account in the same way at the same time as unlocking the device, such as with fingerprints, face scans, or screen lock PINs.

And, unlike passwords, passwords are resistant to online attacks like phishing, making them more secure than disposable codes sent via SMS.

"Over the past year we have shared updates about bringing password key experiences to Chrome and Android, services like Docusign, Kaya, PayPal, Shopify and Yahoo!," Google said in its official blog quoted Thursday, May 4.

"Starting today, this feature will be available as an option for Google Account users who want to try an entry experience without a password," he added.

Users can try it by visiting g.co/passkeys and preparing it easily. For the Google Workspace account, the administrator will soon have the option to enable the password for their final user while logging in.

Like any other new start, the password key change will take time. That's why 2FA's code and Verification will still work for Google Account.

"We look forward to helping people, and others in the industry, make the next jump to make entry easier and safer with Google," Google said.
