Snapchat Reportedly Will Soon Get Dark Mode Support On Android Snapchat

JAKARTA - Dark mode can almost be found in all apps, including in the built-in of the phone system though. However, this may be a new one for Snapchat's social media.

Snapchat is rumored to be presenting a new feature that allows users to apply dark mode into the Android app.

Found for the first time by Alessandro Paluzzi, a mobile app developer on Twitter recently, he added an update to his thread that has tracked the progress of Dark Mode Support on Snapchat for Android.

According to the thread, it appears that Snap Inc. has been working on the feature behind the scenes for more than two years, where Paluzzi originally discovered this feature in February 2021.

In the current update, there is a switch in Snapchat that shows new "App Appearance" sections that show three options, namely Always Light, Always Dark, and Match System options.

It's a pretty general setting for most Android apps, but it's a new feature Snapchat has been missing.

Currently, Snapchat is just implementing dark mode in the iOS app. However, according to Paluzzi, the implementation of Snapchat's dark mode on Android will require Snapchat+ subscriptions.

In fact, there are no such specific requirements for iOS, and it is interesting enough to see the features expected from almost all applications locked behind paywall. Snapchat+ earns $3.99 (Rp62 thousand)/month in the US.
