JAKARTA - Google will discontinue support for Dropcam and Nest Secure home security system within one year, on April 8, 2024. These two products are some Nest products that have not been transferred to the Google Home app, and this indicates that the new Google Home app may be coming soon, at least within a year.

Google will also discontinue support for some legacy Works with Nest connections, but will only take place on September 29.

Dropcam has been running well on the existing Dropcam Camera will continue to function until April 8, 2024, after which you will not be able to access it from the Nest app. To ease this loss, Google offers Nest Cam indoor cameras that are connected for free to Dropcam owners who subscribe to Nest Aware. Owners who do not subscribe will get 50 percent discount coupons. This promotion runs until May 7, 2024, so you can still use your Dropcam until it doesn't work.

Dropcam (previously known as Dropcam HD) was launched in 2012, and Dropcam Pro in 2013. Then, Google bought Nest, and Nest bought Dropcam. In 2015, Google separated Nest when Alphabet was formed, and for the time being, Google and Nest both created smart home products.

Then, in 2018, Google re-incorporated Nest, and since then there have been many changes in integrating Nest products into the Google Home app, including stopping unintegrable products.

Now, after stopping Dropcam and Nest Secure, the only Nest devices that can only be accessed through the Nest app are Nest Protect, smart smoke alarms, and Google has promised to integrate them into the new Google Home app. The updated app has been in the pre-public release stage since October, and there is still no exact date, but it's likely close, isn't it?

Maybe someone bought the Dropcam for the first time in 2010 and exchanged it for a free HD Dropcam in 2015, and will now exchange it for Nest Cam. This is pretty good in terms of customer service, but not good in terms of electronic waste.
