Spotify Can't Overtake Clubhouse, Retires Audio Live Features Later This Month!

JAKARTA - Spotify plans to close Clubhouse's rival audio service, Spotify Live, saying there is no longer any reason for the feature to stand alone.

Launched in April 2022, Spotify Live is a live podcasting feature where users can listen to discussions in different rooms either on Spotify or on the Spotify Live app.

"After the trial period and learning about how Spotify users interact with live audio, we have made the decision to stop the Spotify Live app," Spotify said.

However, the companies don't stop there, they actually plan to continue offering live audio services such as listening parties focused on artists, to facilitate direct interactions between artists and fans.

Shortly after, the company then launched Spotify Greenroom which was launched in June in the same year.

A year later, he turned it into Spotify Live in the hope of clearing the Clubhouse market and moving it to the main Spotify app to make it more visible.

But it looks like Spotify can't afford it, the music streaming service then closed the creator funds it prepared for Spotify Live and even canceled some of its original shows. The feature is scheduled to officially close on April 30.

Recently, Spotify launched a new Artificial Intelligence (AI) feature called DJ, serving to further personalize the experience of listening to music for its users.

The Spotify DJ feature will present a selection of music with very realistic verbal comments based on AI about the music and artists you like.
