JAKARTA - In the midst of the onslaught of artificial intelligence (AI) technology which is increasing today, it turns out that there are many pros and cons between big figures in technology, such as Elon Musk, Bill Gates, and Google CEO, Sundar Pichai.

This gap then got bigger, when ChatGPT had an extraordinary impact. The reason is, the debate over AI's progress arises because some people believe that AI is the future, while others believe that AI can be a threat to humans.

As CEO of Twitter, Elon Musk along with Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak and late AI critic Stephen Hawking believes AI technology could pose a risk to human life.

Some time ago, high-ranking tech giants called for a pause over the development of their AI machines because they were considered to have more risks. They also said that this temporary suspension needs to be done before humans lose control.

This means that the AI's ability at this point is claimed to have gone beyond human thought. Worse yet, AI may no longer need or listen to humans, who can then steal nuclear codes, create a pandemic, or trigger world war.

DeepAI founder Kevin Baragona, also agrees with that. He likened humans and AI to chimpanzees and humans. "If we are like chimpanzees, then AI will destroy us, or we will be dedicated by him," he told DailyMail.

But on the other hand, Google CEO Sundar Pichai and Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates actually said that AI is the future of the world, where that technology will probably be able to tackle climate change, cure cancer, and increase productivity.

This AI technology has started to develop rapidly since OpenAI launched ChatGPT last November. Since then, ChatGPT has been a success worldwide.

In fact, the presence of GPT-4 technology, users can do more than just giving advice. GPT-4 can make research papers, books, news articles, emails, and text-based work and so on.

Due to its extraordinary capabilities, the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Policy technology ethics group filed a complaint with the United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to stop OpenAI from issuing a new commercial release from GPT-4.

The official complaint submitted to the FTC follows an open letter sent to Elon Musk, artificial intelligence experts, and industry executives calling for a six-month hiatus in developing a more powerful system than OpenAI's newly launched GPT-4, citing potential risks to society.
