JAKARTA - The Wakweli Web3 infrastructure protocol has officially partnered with the Polygon layer-2 development platform to allow NFT (non-fungible token) authentication to become possible.

The partnership between Polygon and Wakweli means all digital assets in Polygon will be compatible with the Wakweli certification system. According to the announcement, NFT project owners on the Polygon network can request authentication certificates for each asset. This collaboration aims to improve the security of the digital ecosystem.

Responding to the cost of certificate authentication for users, Antoine Sarraute, one of the founders of Wakweli, said that he must stake the WAKU utility token from Wakweli to make a certificate request. The amount that must be at stake in the certificate request depends on the level of trust required for each case.

Negotiations of the partnership agreement between the two companies began in August 2022, with final details of the deal finalized in March 2023.

Testnet Wakweli will be available in April and can be used with Mumbai's testnet from Polygon. Testing of alpha with Polygon's mainnet will begin in the second quarter of 2023, with generalized mainnet compatibility expected to be ready in the third quarter of 2023.

"By providing a way to detect fake NFTs, the partnership between these two companies has opened up a definite way to counter fraud attempts, thus creating more trust in a growing ecosystem," Sarraute said, quoted by Cointelegraph.

The Wakweli application programming platform and interface will offer developer access to more advanced usage scenarios, including automatically generating certification requests when printing or accessing more detailed certification information.

In the past month, the Polygon Foundation has also collaborated with South Korean multinational conglomerate Lotte Group to showcase the company's NFT project.

Polygon has gained a lot of traction through partnerships with major brands like Starbucks and Adidas, leading to increased network adoption among cryptocurrency users.
