JAKARTA - Twitter is claimed to add a new verification feature to the subscription service registration process, Blue, by adding a kind of Identity Card (KTP) or other Government IDs.

A code was revealed by product intelligence firm Watchful.ai, where Twitter requires Blue customers to send complete ID photos along with selfie photos to verified their accounts.

The feature is listed in addition to other features that are only available to Caucasian Twitter subscribers, such as support for editing tweets, uploading longer videos, setting up markers with folders and more.

However, the feature is under testing in the United States (US), it is not yet known for sure whether it will also be widely tested for its global users.

Cited from TechCrunch, Tuesday, March 21, currently the new verification feature is only found in the Android version.

ID verification is progress from the revised Twitter Blue registration process in December last year, following the initial launch of the Twitter blue tick system that can be purchased, causing a series of impersonation issues.

Apparently, this feature comes to help ensure all users who sign up for Twitter Blue and get a blue tick in the app are real people, with complete address information and personal contacts.

This can be very helpful for companies in overcoming system abuse by bots and cyber fraudsters.
