Google Pixel Watch Now Can Detect When Users Fall

JAKARTA - Google is now rolling out the detector feature falling to all Pixel Watch users. They can activate this function through the Companion or Personal Safety mobile app.

Once enabled, Google Pixel Watch's built-in motion sensor and on-device machine learning can then identify whether the wearer falls and connects it with help, if necessary.

When the user falls hard and the user doesn't move for about 30 seconds, the Pixel Watch will vibrate, sound the alarm, and display a notification on the screen to check the user.

Then, they will be given two options to ensure conditions, such as "I'm fine" to ignore notices or "I fell & need help" to immediately connect to emergency services.

But if the user doesn't choose one of those options, the watch alarm will last about a minute, getting louder in the last few seconds.

When the user is still not responding, the watch will try to contact the emergency service and play an automatic message asking for help wherever the user is.

Users can also talk to emergency operators if conditions support to notify them when help is needed, as quoted from the Google page, Wednesday, March 1.

Google says the drop detection feature has been extensively tested to ensure the Pixel Watch understands the difference between falling hard and doing strong physical activity or recovering from a small stumbling.

Therefore, users need not worry about causing an accidental emergency call. Detective features of falling are now available in the United States (US), Canada, UK, France, Ireland, Japan, Australia, and Taiwan.
