JAKARTA - Discord is expanding the Stage Channels feature that was launched two years ago, by adding video support, screen sharing, and also text chats.

"Two years ago, we highlighted Stage Channels as an easy way to run community events. Now, Stage Channels has video support, screen sharing and text chats," Discord said in its announcement.

With this feature improvement, group members can share presentations and share comments and flood chats with available emojis there.

Furthermore, Discord will allow up to five participants to be able to share their video feed at the same time. However, as usual, audio or video audiences will not be broadcast unless they are invited to join the speaker.

Because videos use more bandwidth than audio, Discord imposes some restrictions. Every server that activates community features is free, they can share inner videos and screens with only 50 people, including the hosts.

However, for upgraded servers they can have more audiences, up to 150 people in the video stage in Tier 2 and 300 people in Tier 3.

Just like in the voice channel, text chats will be visible by clicking "Show Chat" on the top right of the panel. There, you can ask questions or comment on what the speaker is talking about.

In addition, moderators have the ability to only allow users with certain roles to share their videos or screens on the server.

Meanwhile, when you wait for the stage to start, Discord will play music in the waiting room so you don't get bored. If you'd rather not hear it, you can turn off the music by pressing the existing notification button.
