JAKARTA - Quora, the site exchanges the knowledge that has been established since 2009, opening up its newest artificial intelligence (AI) product called Poe to the public.

Similar to ChatGPT, in its announcement, Quora CEO Adam D'Angelo explained that Poe allows people to ask questions and get answers instantly, and have conversations back and forth with some AI-powered bots.

Announced for the first time in December, if you want to access Poe's mobile app at that time, you need an invitation to try it out. Now, Quora is opening it up publicly, so anyone can use the Poe app easily.

But Poe is currently only available on iOS first, and then the company will expand its availability on other platforms in the next few months, along with many other bots.

"The AI in Poe is currently supported by models from OpenAI and Anthropic. However, we expect a large number of models to be available in the near future," said the CEO.

With so many AI models added, Angelo hopes that these different models will be optimized for different tasks, representing different points of view, and having access to different knowledge.

However, not only thinking about the usefulness of the model, but Quora also makes the AI model useful to the public, with interfaces that are fast and easy to use by many people.

"This is especially true in back and forth paradigmadialog which has become the standard for answering questions and the use of other big language models such as ChatGPT, but we hope this is also useful for other modalities," he added.

Angelo also hopes that Poe can greatly reduce the number of jobs required by any AI developer to reach many users.

The company notes, there will be a link between Poe and the Quora site, where when there is Poe content meeting fairly high quality standards, then the contem will be distributed on the Quora site, which has the ability to reach 400 million Quora monthly visitors.

Currently, the company is in the process of making APIs that will make it easier for any AI developer to connect their model to Poe.

Angelo also added that the AI available through Poe is not perfect, so it may not be useful in some cases.

"We will do our best to fix the problems under our control as quickly as possible, but AI research will take time to move forward to a point where many current shortcomings can be overcome. Until that happens, we hope the sharing feature in Poe will help you find cases of use that can be useful soon," he concluded.

If you are interested and have an iPhone or iPad, you can try Poe from today by visiting poe.com.
