JAKARTA - The social media giant Twitter has reportedly turned off a bot that allows users to tip Dogecoin (DOGE) crypto memes to others. This deletion is part of Twitter's efforts to combat auto spam.

According to one of the program's designers, the bot was cleaned along with many other robots as part of Twitter's new policy to combat auto spam.

The programmer, who in January saw Musk double on TV's Happy Meal if the fast food giant McDonald's started accepting DOGE, said the only use of the bot was to tip others on DOGE.

"Hi Elon Musk, our tip-giving bot, MyDogeTip, has been suspended in the recent Twitter bot cleaning. This bot is a great bot and has just been used to tip Doge to support content creators on Twitter."

Although Twitter allowed users to tip each other on Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) last year, Dogecoin was never officially added to the list even though Musk is a DOGE supporter.

The bot cleaning also caused a strong reaction from the Dogecoin community. According to MyDogeCTO's Twitter account, removing bots without making a replacement would insult the DOGE community.

"If Twitter's support will close MyDogeTip, they should make something EXTRAORDINARY for Dogecoin... Because otherwise, it would be a tremendous insult to the DOGE community," wrote @MyDogeCTO, February 1, 2023.

He claimed to have contacted Twitter's support and asked them to resolve the issue because he believed the bot had been accidentally removed.

"I have appealed and waited for further news. We have been working with Twitter Support in the past and have always adhered to their guidelines. My guess, this is a mistake or a mass reporting attack!" he wrote, as quoted by DailyHodl.
