JAKARTA - Microsoft will soon present a new interface and feel in Teams Room for the entire Windows and Android ecosystem. The update will be available in general at the end of the first quarter (Q1) of this year in Windows version 4.16.

The update includes soft buttons on Windows consoles for quick access to Meet, Call, Share (for HDMI content), Join via ID, and More buttons for overflow menus.

On the new menu overflow screen, Microsoft will include a feature for Invite this Room, users can use audio and video rooms for Teams meetings that start on companion devices.

It also features buttons for accessibility, reports problems, restarts the device, and to access settings.

Microsoft activates more controls for end-of-view users of the room during meetings via updated interfaces for display diversion menus so that users can easily move between Gallery, Joint Mode, Front row, and others.

Users can also customize, such as whether to display content and people, or just people. The front row view to include visible meeting chats can also be adjusted, and select which meeting components are displayed in left and right panels.

As ZDNet reported on Thursday, February 2, Microsoft provided its first update when Teams had 270 million monthly active users since January 2022.

In the last quarter, Teams surpassed 280 million monthly active users, suggesting growth has slowed significantly since the pandemic, prompting Teams from 44 million daily active users in March 2020 to 145 million daily active users in April 2021.

Microsoft also reports there are more than 500,000 active Teams Room devices, up 70 percent year-on-year (YoY), reflecting many workers turning to offices.

In addition, Microsoft will also move the Premium add-on Teams in a preview to general availability.

To enjoy the service, users have to spend $10 per month offering advanced security and AI-backed meeting summary. Microsoft said it had seen a strong interest in it during the preview.

Once publicly available, customers with an existing Microsoft 365 or Office 365 license can buy Teams Premium as add-on for their existing Microsoft 365 service.
