JAKARTA - Google seems to give up where now they will always display RAW images in the main feed of the Photos app. Previously, the company was reluctant to show it because it had a larger image size.

A code series was found in the latest version of the Google Photo app (v6.20) for Android, where Google is working on options to always display RAW images in the main feed of the Photos app.

RAW images are images that have not been processed, larger in size and display images taken directly from the sensor.

Images are not polished or processed by camera applications unlike ordinary photos. Currently, RAW images taken in Pixel, Samsung, or other Android phones make RAW files that are not backed into the cloud.

The reason is quite simple, because the image size is larger and will take up more cloud storage space than ordinary photos. Since this image is not stored in the cloud, the image will not appear in the main feed of the Google Photos app.

However, that could change because a series of codes found by 9To5Google revealed, "Now you can access the RAW photo here", which could enter the Google Photos app.

So, based on a series of other codes found, although Google Photos Background is disabled, the RAW image will appear in the Photos app feed, as quoted by Sammobile, Wednesday, January 25.

Interestingly, a string shows that although the backup is enabled but the RAW folder upload is disabled, the RAW image will still be uploaded.

There is no explanation of how images will continue to appear for users who activate general backups but the RAW folder upload is turned off.
