JAKARTA - The MetaMask team recently stated that fraud in the address of a new crypto wallet trying to take advantage of users' carelessness has increased.
In an announcement, digital wallet provider MetaMask warned users of "fraud of address poisoning", in which attackers "poisoned" transaction history by sending US$0 tokens to users to their wallets.

The fraudster will use the wallet address generated from the vanity address generator and match the first and last characters of their victim's wallet address. This makes users who are not suspicious of sending their funds to the wrong impersonator's address.
While these attempts will not give hackers access to the user's wallet, people who may get used to directly copying their wallet addresses from transaction history before sending digital asset balances that could potentially send their funds to the impious address.
Therefore, the wallet provider reminds its users to always be careful and double-check transactions before sending their balances. The company highlighted that it would be better to check every character of the wallet address to ensure funds are sent to the correct wallet.
