JAKARTA - It seems that OpenAI is looking for ways on how its Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based chatbot, ChatGPT, can make money for its company.

According to a post on the company's Discord server, OpenAI has shared a waiting list for its experimental ChatGPT Professional service which will come for a fee.

“We started thinking about how to monetize ChatGPT (original thought, nothing official to share yet). Our goal is to continuously improve and maintain the service, and monetization is one way we are considering to ensure its long-term viability," wrote OpenAI.

In the same post, the company includes a link to a survey about the paid version of the ChatGPT Professional program.

OpenAI hopes to gather feedback from users on how much they are willing to pay for greater access to ChatGPT.

This version, will effectively remove any limitations on popular chatbots. ChatGPT will always be available, no blackout windows, faster response, and as many messages as needed. Also, the paid version will supply twice as many messages as the current daily limit.

Previously, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman had not pointed out that ChatGPT costs OpenAI a few cents for each chat, making it impractical to keep the bot free.

While sources told Reuters OpenAI is targeting USD 200 million in revenue generation this year, it also reportedly wants to generate USD 1 billion in revenue by 2024. It is likely that the subscription version will play a significant role in the growth. that.

Citing Engadget, Thursday, January 12, it is not certain whether this paid version will be welcomed by its users, which in the initial trial version had more than one million users at the beginning of last month.

However, it is uncertain how many of them are serious users versus fans and curious onlookers.

Previously, interesting news came from Microsoft which claimed it would integrate ChatGPT into its Bing search engine as soon as March, and its Office products.
