Germany's Anti-Cartel Regulator Has Objections To Google's Data Processing

JAKARTA - Germany's anti-kartel regulator announced on Wednesday January 11 that it had issued objections to Google's data processing provisions. They also expect Alphabet Inc.'s subsidiary to make appropriate changes.

The cartel office sent letters to Alphabet's parent company, Google Ireland Ltd and Google Germany GmbH early legal assessments on December 23.

It said that Google users are currently not given enough choice, whether and to what extent they agree with processing their data that reaches far across services.

A Google spokesperson said the company would continue to engage constructively with German regulators to try to resolve the issue.

"People expect us to run our business responsibly - by maintaining a product experience that prioritizes users and updates our services continuously to meet regulatory expectations," the spokesperson added.

Google has continued to gain very strict scrutiny because it is suspected of utilizing and monopolizing data from users. In fact, Google is often accused of violating data privacy from users for the benefit of their advertising.
